Apart from providing vocational and professional learning programmes accreditation, HKCAAVQ also supports the development of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (QF) through its provision of accreditation services for institutions, organisations or other bodies for the purpose of serving as appointed assessment agencies under the Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications Ordinance (AAVQO) (Cap 592).

Currently, our accreditation services for Assessment Agencies cover the following:

Accreditation of Assessment Agencies for Recognition of Prior Learning (AARPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a mechanism under the HKQF to recognise work experiences and competencies acquired by practitioners at the workplace. It provides an alternative route for practitioners to obtain QF-recognised qualifications without undergoing a training programme. For more information, please visit the website of HKQF.

Details of the accreditation standards and process for Assessment Agencies for RPL can be found in the following Guidance Notes:

Accreditation of Assessment Agencies for Professional Qualifications (AAPQ)

The recognition of Professional Qualifications is a scheme to take forward the alignment of professional qualifications under the HKQF. Through successful accreditation and appointment as an assessment agency, selected professional qualifications of local awarding bodies would be recognised under the HKQF and registered in the Qualifications Register (QR). Qualifications that fall into this scope may include professional qualifications, occupation-based qualifications, licence-related qualifications, and trade tests, etc. which are attained by assessment.  Prior to entering a service agreement with HKCAAVQ to undergo an accreditation exercise for the profession or industry it serves, the interested professional body must be referred to HKCAAVQ by QFS/EDB.  For more information, please visit the website of HKQF.
