Organised by the Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre (LCSM), the 2023 LSCM Logistics Summit (“the Summit”) themed “The Role of Smart Logistics in Facilitating the Greater Bay Area Development” was held on 11 October 2023 at Hong Kong Science Park. With over 600 participants in attendance, the Summit revolved around the influence of innovative technology on promoting the development of smart logistics in Hong Kong, and how local smart logistics can be leveraged in the Greater Bay Area to drive regional economic growth.
The Summit commenced with the welcome and opening remarks given by Ir Prof Alan LAM, JP, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre, Mr LEUNG Chun-Ying, GBM, GBS, JP, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Ms Mable CHAN, JP, Permanent Secretary for Transport and Logistics. As one of the keynote speakers, Mr. Albert CHOW, Executive Director of HKCAAVQ, delivered his speech titled “Digitalization Roadmap of HKCAAVQ as a leading Regional Quality Assurance Agency (QA)”, introducing the existing strategic plan of HKCAAVQ and its aspiration to become a leading regional QA agency. Mr CHOW shared that HKCAAVQ is establishing a roadmap to digitalization, following the pilot initiatives of establishing Digital Credential Hub and initial testing on Robotic Process Automation applications. In order to cater to the overriding needs of the stakeholders, HKCAAVQ is also ambitious to integrate digitalization strategies to the existing systems, such that the quality assurance procedures will be more comprehensive and user-friendly.
In addition to the keynote speeches, the Summit featured two thematic panel discussion sessions. Speakers from across authorities, industries, business, and academic sectors exchanged their thoughts on the development and adaptations of newly emerging technologies. Towards the end of the event, a technology showcase was held, exhibiting various applied technologies developed by the LCSM, government bureaux, local universities, and private companies. The showcased technologies covered areas such as engineering, transportation, logistics, and medical care.
