The Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) and the National Institution for Academic Degrees and Quality Enhancement of Higher Education (NIAD-QE) have successfully renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 10 March 2025, agreeing to enhance collaboration for the mutual benefit of both parties. HKCAAVQ and NIAD-QE first signed the MoU in 2010 to establish a strategic alliance and enhance the operation of external quality assurance in both jurisdictions.
At the signing ceremony, Mr Albert Chow, Executive Director of HKCAAVQ, expressed his appreciation for the renewal of the MoU with NIAD-QE, emphasising the strong and productive partnership between the two organisations since the first MoU in 2010. He highlighted HKCAAVQ’s commitment to developing quality assurance and accreditation in Hong Kong and its dedication to fostering collaborations with regional and global partners, including authorities in Guangdong Province, Macau, as well as quality assurance agencies across the globe.
Dr Hattori Yasunao, President of NIAD-QE, mentioned that the close relationship between the two agencies has been a positive result of frequent cooperation between the two organisations, such as visits and staff exchange programmes, and he looks forward to the continued efforts in the future. With HKCAAVQ’s extensive experience in qualification and accreditation, NIAD-QE looks forward to enhancing collaboration for the further development of promoting quality assurance of education.
The MoU was jointly signed by Mr Albert Chow and Dr Hattori Yasunao, President of NIAD-QE. The signing took place in the presence of representatives of NIAD-QE and HKCAAVQ, including Prof Todayama Kazuhisa, Dean of Research Development, Prof Mori Rie, Professor of Research Department, and Ms Toyoshima Mihoko, Director of International Affairs Division of NIAD-QE; as well as Dr Joe Hong, Deputy Executive Director (Academic), and Dr Sau-mee Chiu, Deputy Executive Director (Vocational and Professional Education and Training) of HKCAAVQ.
